God is Consistent

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

I look up to my husband, not just because he’s a foot taller than I am, but because of the kind of man he is. He’s strong, resilient, and dependable. One of the qualities I admire most about him is his consistency.

He exercises consistently. He shows up to work consistently. His mood, his personality, his presence with our family, it’s all steady and reliable.

But as consistent as he is, he’s still human. He has off days. We all do. Honestly, I have a lot of them, and I’m still working on being consistent in many areas of my life.

Sometimes, I think we use the people around us as a lens through which we view God. If the people we admire, those who seem stable, strong, or dependable have their ups and downs, then we might assume God does too.

But He doesn’t.

The Bible reminds us in Hebrews 13:8 that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” That means He doesn’t have off days. He doesn’t change. His mood doesn’t shift. His character doesn’t fluctuate. His mind doesn’t wander. He is steady. Faithful. Dependable.

And we can trust Him because He is always consistent. For that, I’m truly grateful.
