What To Do When You Doubt God

If you’re a Christ-follower and you’re questioning your faith because you don’t know where you fit in the current Christian culture, and your beliefs don’t seem to fit anywhere, open your Bible. Let me explain…

I’m no theologian or expert, but I do know that as Christ-followers we are called to be disciples and followers of Christ, not of other men or women. The only way to truly know how we should live or treat people as believers is to get it from the source, Jesus.

Yes, people play a role in our growth and development in the faith, but they should not play the main role. We should strive to know God’s word well enough for ourselves that we can discern when we are being deceived, led astray, or used for an agenda other than pointing people towards Christ and wholeness.

We should strive to have a close enough relationship with God that if leaders fail us, it won’t make us lose faith in God because they are not him. I’m not speaking from a high horse or as someone who never doubts, fails, or gets discouraged in my faith.

But as someone who has followed Christ (imperfectly) since I was 12 (45 now) And who grew up in church and around Godly people (who also aren’t perfect) I know the only way to stay committed on this walk, is to keep my eyes on Christ, and pray and ask him to keep me close and not let me fall away on a daily basis.

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

- Hebrews 12:2
