8 Ways To Experience Personal Growth

We’re on a personal growth journey for as long as we live. Sometimes, we make more significant progress in our growth than at other times.

Today, I wanted to share 8 Ways to Experience Personal Growth. I have been incorporating these into my personal growth journey and hope they help you.

Spend Time In Solitude And Offline

I’ve found that most personal growth happens privately when we're alone and have time to think and process. Solitude gives us time to reflect on who we are and who we aspire to become. Take time off social media and a break from watching the news.

Sometimes, we must turn down the world's noise so we can grow and tune into our own voices and desires in life.

Work On Your Relationship With Self

There isn’t a time when we are not with ourselves and God; therefore, these are our most important relationships.

If our relationship with ourselves isn’t good, we can’t be very good to anyone else. Spend time on self-care, self-respect, and learning to love yourself more.

Challenge Yourself and Try New Things

Challenging yourself to try new things and leave your comfort zone is another great way to build confidence and experience growth. Think of a few things you have always wanted to do but were afraid to do. Make a plan to begin doing those things and start checking them off your list.

Once you do it, you’ll feel more confident in your abilities to do things outside of your normal activities. This could be training for and running a 5k if you always wanted to, starting a YouTube channel or newsletter, or anything that makes you feel a little nervous because the more things you challenge yourself to do, the more experiences you will have that build confidence and grow.

Keep Promises To Yourself

Keeping promises to yourself helps you grow because you learn to trust yourself. If each time you set a goal, you quit on it, or you make a promise to yourself that you will break it, you take a hit on your confidence on a subconscious level.

There have been times when I’d set a goal and not followed through with it. Usually, at some point, I’d find myself back at square one, wanting to accomplish that same goal again, and so the cycle continued—set a goal, start strong, lose motivation, and give up.

I eventually became tired of giving up on my goals, so I created a plan of action to help me stay on track. I suggest you do the same if you find yourself in a cycle of quitting on your goals or breaking promises to yourself. Start keeping promises to yourself the same way you keep them to people you love.

Pray Often

As a person of faith, I believe that whatever situation you may be facing and need help getting through, ask God, because He is willing and able to help.

God can handle hearing our requests and complaints, but let’s not forget to give Him our praises. I pray all day long, asking God to help me with everything and to provide me with strength; He hasn’t failed me yet.

I don't always know how things will turn out, but God knows, and I trust Him.

Forgive

If you are holding any grudges, let them go. Life is too short to be angry and hold grudges. Forgive, let it go, and be free.

When you forgive others, you’re setting them free and setting yourself free as well. I am amazed at how much growth I’ve experienced by simply forgiving.

Work On Your Mental and Emotional Health

Working on your mental and emotional health is essential to personal growth. We don’t want to be people who are easily angered or upset, I know I don’t. But I know that this takes work and intention.

Work on yourself so you won’t take things so personally or get easily irritated by everything, allowing it to steal your peace. Pray and ask God to help you in areas where you need to improve mentally and emotionally.

Talk to a counselor or therapist for coping tools and strategies to help you become more emotionally intelligent and mentally stable. Self-awareness goes a long way in building confidence and experiencing personal growth.

Focus On What You Can Control

I used to worry a lot about how things would turn out in my life. I still worry sometimes, but nowhere near as much as I did in the past.

Now, I believe that everything God has in store for us is already ours.

We don't have to strive and chase; We should do what we can and focus on what we can control. Once we've done that, we should be patient and listen to God leading us in our next steps.

I hope this helps you in your personal growth journey.
