Perfection Is Not A Requirement
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9
I love smoothies. Not only do I enjoy the taste, but I also appreciate how each one gives me a quick dose of nutrition. But here’s the thing about me: I like my smoothies to be perfect.
For me to truly enjoy one, it has to hit all the marks: perfect thickness, perfect sweetness, and just the right chill. I hate to admit it, but there have been times when I’ve poured a smoothie down the drain simply because it didn’t meet my standards. Nothing disappoints me quite like a watery or lukewarm smoothie.
As I reflect on those high smoothie standards, I’m reminded and deeply grateful that God doesn’t hold us to the same level of perfection. He doesn’t toss us aside when we don’t measure up.
He doesn’t discard us because we’re weak or inconsistent. In fact, Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that His power is made perfect in our weakness. That means our flaws don’t disqualify us. They create space for His strength to shine through.
So if you’ve been striving for perfection or beating yourself up for not getting everything right, you can let that go. God accepts you, fully and lovingly, just as you are. And if you’ll let Him, He will perfect you day by day through His grace.
