You Are Not Alone In the Storm
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he; I am he who will sustain you. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you, and I will rescue you.”
— Isaiah 46:4
The weather can be unpredictable where I live. One day, I took my daughter to a terrarium-making workshop at a coffee shop about 20 minutes from home. When we arrived, the sun was shining and the temperature hovered around 50 degrees.
But just a couple of hours later, everything changed. The temperature dropped, and snow flurries began falling.
By the time we reached the main road, we were in a full whiteout. I couldn’t see through any of the windows, and the windshield wipers were useless. At the time, I was driving a little two-door Mini Cooper, not exactly built for winter roads. I was trying my hardest to stay calm and not panic.
I glanced into the backseat to check on my daughter. She was sound asleep, completely unaware of the storm around us, resting peacefully, trusting I’d get us home safely. I took a deep breath and prayed.
And the Lord carried us home.
I know He did, because I truly don’t know how we would’ve made it otherwise.
That moment is just one of many in my life where I can look back and say with certainty: God carried me through what felt impossible.
Storms will come in this life, but we can trust Him to carry us through every single one. Just like my daughter, we can rest in peace, trusting that God will get us to where we need to be.
Reflection: How will you trust God during life’s storms?”
