How To Deal With Doubt

If you’re a Christ follower and you’re questioning your faith because you don’t know where you fit in the current Christian culture, or because the chaos happening in the world has made you doubt, or because your beliefs don’t seem to fit anywhere, open your Bible.

Let me explain…

I’m no theologian, but I do know that as Christ-followers we are called to be disciples and followers of Christ, not of other men (women). The only way to truly know how we should live or treat people as believers is to get it from the source, Jesus.

Yes, people play a role in our growth and development in the faith, but they should not play the main role. We should strive to know God's word well enough to discern when we are being deceived, led astray, or used for an agenda other than pointing people toward Christ and wholeness.

We should strive to have a close enough relationship with God that, if we go through hard times, leaders fail us, or life throws anything else at us, it won’t make us lose faith in God because we know his goodness and track record.

As a 46-year-old who has been following Christ since I was 12, I know the only way to stay committed to this walk is to keep my eyes on Christ and pray and ask him to keep me close and not let me fall away daily.

If you ever start to doubt God, stop, reflect, and remember all that he has done for you. I keep a note in my phone where I document my prayers and how God answers them. This way, on days when my faith is low, I can open that note and read all God has done, and it strengthens my faith.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagles.” - Psalm 103:2-6

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” - Hebrews 12:2

I hope this helps. Have an amazing day!
