Keep Trying Things | Devotional Entry
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
- 2 Chronicles 15:7
I love creating things. Over the years, I’ve designed websites, written blog posts and articles, launched businesses, developed products, and more. Some of those things have been successful, and others haven’t.
When I poured myself into something I was excited about, only for it to flop or be ignored, it was discouraging. There have been times when I wrote something I thought was genuinely good, and the response was silence. Crickets.
To be honest, I’ve had plenty of moments where I wanted to quit writing altogether. I wondered if it made any difference at all. It felt like I was only writing to myself, even though my heart has always been to encourage and help others through my words.
But here’s what I’ve learned: dreaming and creating are never wasted. Every time I make something new, I grow. I learn. I sharpen my skills. Through writing, I process my emotions and make sense of what I’ve lived through.
Even the things that didn’t take off or find an audience taught me something. None of it was wasted. Not one word, not one idea, not one effort.
It’s easy to feel like a failure when things don’t go the way we planned. But hear me, friend. You are not a failure.
You tried something. It didn’t go how you hoped. But you learned something from it. And you can try again, this time with more wisdom, more insight, and more strength.
That’s not failure. That’s living.
Reflection: Think about something you tried and either succeeded at or learned from. How did it help shape who you are today?
